    Jesse Irizary

    Owner & Founder

    Jesse (CSCS, USAW Coach) has over fifteen years of professional experience in strength and conditioning. He began as a college strength coach and moved on to found JDI Barbell in 2016. He is a genuine student of strength and movement practice, with a true and comprehensive understanding of programming and coaching in weightlifting, powerlifting, and general strength training.

    Alex Hall

    Owner

    Alex competed in his first powerlifting meet inside of a New York State Prison in 2010. Powerlifting programming became a passion of his because it added depth to his years of self study and his practice of bodybuilding and calisthenic training. He has gone on to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), strength coach, and co-owner of JDI Barbell. He is a strength coach with a unique body of knowledge and experience coaching lifters.

    Priscilla Del Moral

    Owner & Manager

    Priscilla Del Moral, the Owner and Manager of JDI Barbell, ventured into powerlifting in 2018 and has since achieved the titles of three-time USVI National Champion and two-time IPF World Championships team member. With a Bachelor's of Science in Human Behavior and a Master's in Health and Wellness, Priscilla has devoted her career to comprehending the significance of strength training for both physical and mental well-being. In 2023, she established the non-profit organization, The Strong Gurls Club, with a mission to empower and create opportunities for women in the realm of strength training.

  • Kenny Bretania

    Olympic Weightlifting Coach

    Coaching Hours : Tuesday & Thursday 5:30pm-7:30pm

    Kenny fell in love with the sport of weightlifting after his first CrossFit class back in 2012. Since then, he has devoted much of his free time to refining his skills both as an athlete, and as a weightlifting coach. He has both his USAW Level 1 & 2 Certification, and USAPL Club Coach Certification.

    Powerlifting Coach

    Coach Serge is passionate about all things STRENGTH. Serge’s passion for fitness stems from his competitive nature and always wanting to improve his athletic performance. In 2018 Serge started competing in the sport of Powerlifting. Since then Serge has been training and coaching powerlifting, handling competitive powerlifters for their meets, along with coaching general strength and conditioning training.

  • Nate Greene

    Strength & Strong Human Coach

    Nate started his fitness journey in 2010 as a competitive Strongman, winning the United States Strongest Man and World's Strongest Man titles in 2018. After competing at the Arnold World Championships in 2022, Coach Nate transitioned into professional wrestling later on in the year, and continues this journey under the ring name Adonis Briggs. Coach Nate is passionate about coaching athletes to accomplish goals they never thought were possible, including 3 athletes through National Strongwoman Championships. Coach Nate's specialties including Strength & Conditioning, Stronghuman and mobility training.

  • Emilio Azukwu

    Olympic Weightlifting Coach

    Floor Hours : Wednesday 4:00pm-8-00pm

    Certified personal trainer through NASM. He is an energetic and enthusiastic coach. He has a background in sports and strength training as he is a former NCAA Division 1 track and field athlete, and has experience playing amateur basketball and football.

    Emilio first got involved with Powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting in 2021 when he first began training at JDI Barbell, which later culminated in participating in his first Supertotal Competition in September 2022. Currently he is training for his second Supertotal and works with athletes in multiple sports including Powerlifting,Olympic Weightlifting, and general strength training. Emilio believes that strength training should be bigger than meeting a goal but a lifestyle. He has worked with various fitness levels and is more than capable of helping individuals become successful at leading healthier lifestyles through strength training.

    Justin Sene is a Strength & Conditioning Coach, & competitive Weightlifter. Like many of us, he started working out with a sports team and eventually found himself in local gyms. . As a coach it is his mission to guide people towards that same positivity he experienced! Through weightlifting, he uses use comradery, challenge, & respect to form communities that not only push clients but let them enjoy the process! Specilizing in Weightlifting, his roots stay the same, we are athletes first. Not just strong on a barbell but prepared for task’s life throws our way.

  • Rebekah Davis

    Olympic Weightlifting & Powerlifting Coach

    Rebekah (CSCS, ERYT200) has been a member of JDI Barbell since it opened its doors in 2016. She started her journey in CrossFit but found her true love in strength training at JDI and has been coaching and competing in both weightlifting and powerlifting since.

    Rebekah has taught yoga to athletes for over 10 years. She is excited to offer services tailored specifically to weightlifters and powerlifters, equipping them with the mobility, balance, and equanimity not only to tackle heavy weights but to live a more intentional and pain-free life

  • Connor Campell

    Connor (CSCS, ASCC, BSc, EXOS) joined JDI barbell in September 2022 after as an avid weightlifter. He has been training in Olympic Weightlifting since 2016 and since then has gone on to make multiple nationals. His journey playing in Rugby and American football. Brought him into the realm of Strength and Conditioning.

    He has 6 years experience coaching athletes at the Olympic, International, and National levels across a number of sports. Having most notably represented Team Ireland at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and on track to support an athlete at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics as well.

  • Joshua Cruz

    Joshua arrived to JDI in early 2022. A former college athlete, in Baseball and Cross Country, he recently made the transition to Weightlifting. He was a participant of the 2022 25 and under (25U) weightlifting nationals and competes actively in the sport of Weightlifting. Joshua is a weightlifting coach and works with athletes in multiple sports, including baseball and track and field. His specializes in sport specific training and weightlifting.

    Powerlifting Coach & Personal Trainer

    Eli (NASM-CPT, USAPL-CC) joins JDI as USAPL Club-level Coach and a competitive powerlifter.

    Working with clients and athletes from all backgrounds, Eli promotes the use of bespoke training style to bridge the gap between powerlifters and everyday people.

  • Tony Thorton

    Tony has been working in the fitness industry for 6 plus years. He grew playing lacrosse and later competed at the Division 1 Collegiate level at UNC. He has always been passionate about creating a healthy and active lifestyle for himself and helping others do the same.
